Hebrew Prophets — The Coming of the Glory

Study of the Hebrew prophets in chronological order

I was inspired to write the trilogy, The Coming of the Glory: How the Hebrew Scriptures Reveal the Plan of God, because I could not find any study of the Hebrew prophets that was written in chronological order, within the context of Israelite history, and from a Bahá’í perspective. Volume 1 was published in 2020 by Something or Other Publishing. Volume 2 will be published in early 2022, and Volume 3 a year or two afterward.

Foundation of spiritual beliefs

The video/PowerPoint presentation for volume 1 focuses on a few key concepts from the book. It lays the foundation for spiritual beliefs of Judaism and then the Hebrew prophets by starting at the end of the last Ice Age with the paleolithic site Göbekli Tepe in 9600 BC, and then it moves to a Neolithic village a couple thousand years later. Explore the duality of Adam as both a Manifestation of God who lived about 4000 BCE and a symbol for the divine creation of humanity.

Spiritual Seasons

This video explores the concept of the spiritual seasons and how the flowering of Mesopotamian culture in the fourth millennium was the spiritual summer of the Dispensation of the Prophet Adam, and how the united kingdom of Saul, David, and Solomon was the spiritual summer of the Mosaic Dispensation. The program presents the background to, and the meanings of, several famous biblical verses such as “What hath God wrought,” possibly the first prophecy in the Hebrew Bible, and the “strong city” that David mentioned in a psalm. This presentation follows the missions of the Prophets Adam, Abraham, and Moses, and ends with remarkable prophecies of David, whom ‘Abdu’l-Bahá referred to as a prophet alongside Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel.

I could only dip into a few fascinating topics in this 45-minute program, but my presentations and writing are designed to encourage readers to explore the Bible for themselves. After all, Abdu’l-Bahá did admonish us in no uncertain terms when He said: “You must know the Old and New Testaments as the word of God.”
